Cpl. Carlos Naula saws bamboo here Dec. 22 during a community service event. Forty Marines with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and sailors aboard USS Makin Island volunteered at the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped and cleared brush, fixed lights and cleaned storage areas. The Camp Pendleton, Calif., unit deployed from San Diego Nov. 14 and arrived in Southeastern Asia Dec. 21 as part of a regularly scheduled deployment. Naula, 32, who hails from New York City, serves as a maintenance administrative clerk with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 268 (Reinforced), which serves as the aviation combat element for the MEU.
