Mess chief Staff Sgt. Dave J. Washington reads the names of sunken ships during a 70th anniversary commemoration ceremony of the attack on Pearl Harbor aboard USS Pearl Harbor here Dec. 7. Washington, 27, is a Cleveland native and serves with Combat Logistics Battalion 11. The battalion provides logistics and services for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which embarked USS Makin Island, USS New Orleans and USS Pearl Harbor in San Diego Nov. 14, beginning a seven-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East regions.
