Marines and sailors on a Navy hovercraft launched from the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island land on a beach here Sept. 8. The 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit service members were conducting a training mission as part of a sea-based exercise – the second since the unit became a complete Marine air-ground task force in May. The unit is scheduled to deploy in the coming months.
