CAMP PENDLETON - Marines and sailors role-playing as evacuees arrive at a military-assisted evacuation simulation here Sept. 5. Service members of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit provided security and processed the actors. Teamed up at four sites throughout the base, Combat Logistics Battalion 11, which provides the unit with logistics and services, and Battery K, primarily an artillery outfit for the unit's ground combat element, trained to evacuate civilians in foreign countries. The unit began a sea-based exercise Sept. 1, the second aboard amphibious ships since becoming a complete Marine air-ground task force in May.
