Lance Cpl. Alvin Hosokawa, top, and Pfc. Jacob W. Hurst participate in a raid exercise here June 21. Hosokawa, 21, is a Torrance, Calif., native. Hurst, 19, is a Bakersfield, Calif., native. The service members serve with Company K, one of three rifle companies in Battalion Landing Team 3/1, the ground-combat element for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The unit began its first full-scale exercise June 13, its first since becoming a complete Marine air-ground task force in May.
