Cpl. Anthony R. Simmons, 22, from Kansas City, Mo, is used to demonstrate how to use the contents of an MRE, Meal ready to Eat, as improvised medical equipment at Kilo 2 combat town June 3. Marines learned the improvised techniques to account for the fact that a corpsman bag may not always be at hand when quick action is required. The Marines of 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment practiced combat trauma as they learned counter-insurgency operations here 27 May to 4 June. While training, the Marines also sharpened their skills in foreign culture, enemy weaponry and response to various combat situations. Marines conducted the training to help prepare themselves for their upcoming deployment with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Jeffrey Belovarac)
