HM3 Jonathan H. Vaccaro, hospital corpsman, MEU Service Support Group 11, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Pendleton, clears brush behind the medical aid station to make room for a bivouac site during the building of an Initial Support Base, also known as a Forward Operating Base by the Marines of MSSG- 11, during a Humanitarian Assistance Operation training exercise at Red Beach here Nov. 9. Vacarro along with other corpsmen are providing medical support to the Marines and training during the HAO and Mass Casualty Operations exercises. Marines and sailors from security, communications, medical, motor transport, utilities and other support detachments set up the FOB to serve as the central distribution and re-supply point for food, water, medical and other materials for the HAO site.
