ABOARD THE USS PELELIU (March 1, 2006) - Sgt. Alberto G. Alaniz, HRPP platoon member, command element, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Pendleton, Calif., from Santa Ana, Calif., yells "gun" to alert his platoon and fires in the direction of an attacker during an HRPP live-fire exercise aboard the USS Peleliu Mar. 2. The HRPP platoon is comprised of specially selected personnel from the 11th MEU's command element. Their mission is to provide personal security to 11th MEU and other high-ranking government officials. The 11th MEU (SOC) is currently on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf aboard the Peleliu in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
