MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Soldiers with the Western Army Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force run to their next objective during a live fire and maneuver range aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton during exercise Iron Fist 2018, Jan. 18. Iron Fist is a five-week-long exercise between the United States Marine Corps and JGSDF focusing on advanced marksmanship, amphibious reconnaissance, fire and maneuver assaults, staff planning, logistical support, medical knowledge sharing, fire support operations, including mortars, artillery and close air support, and amphibious landing operations.
