U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 8, 2016) Marines with Company C, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), offload from a Landing Craft Utility to participate in Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 8. The LCU can carry approximately 350 Marines or 170 tons of cargo or vehicles from ship to shore. While present in the region, the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th MEU provide U.S. Naval Forces Central Command with a flexible, sea-based military force, readily
available to respond to emerging crises and support a wide-range of military operations.
