U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 6, 2016) A U.S. Sailor with Assault Craft Unit 5, Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), signals a landing craft air cushion(LCAC) where to land during Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 6. The LCAC in one means of transferring U.S. Marine Corps combat power ashore to carry out a variety of mission sets. The Makin Island ARG and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of maritime security operations, crisis response, and theater security cooperation efforts to ensure the free flow of commerce, freedom of navigation and regional security.
