TRINCOMALEE, Sri Lanka (Nov. 23, 2016) Sri Lankan Navy Special Boat Squadron Sailors are instructed how to safely maneuver through the UH-1Y Huey helicopter during a Theater Security Cooperation engagement at Sri Lanka Naval Base, Trincomalee, Nov. 23, 2016. A majority of the SBS Sailors has never conducted fast rope techniques from an actual helicopter, so understanding the safety procedures and familiarizing themselves with the Huey prior to loading the aircraft was critical to the training event and everyone's safety. This bilateral training provides an opportunity for Sri Lanka and U.S. Navy and Marine Corps teams to further enhance military ties and improve their capability and proficiency to respond to crises.
