FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, California (September 17, 2016) – Marines with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare to advance from behind tree-line concealment during a long-range raid conducted in Fort Hunter Liggett, California, September 17, 2016. As part of the long-range raid, the BLT launched from the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) off the coast of Southern California and flew more than 225 miles to the objective area. The Marines conducted a 10-mile night movement to position themselves for the assault on the enemy forces, clearing a town of any “role-playing” militants. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
