Gonzalez, a platoon sergeant with Fox Company, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines (BLT 2/1), 11th MEU, and a native of El Paso, Texas, as part of a mission preparation drill aboard the USS San Diego (LPD 22), Sept. 22. The 11th MEU is deployed with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
