A Marine with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducts tactical site exploitation near a role player acting as an insurgent killed in action during an island seizure operation as part of Certification Exercise (CERTEX) on San Clemente Island, California, June 13. The 11th MEU and Amphibious Squadron 5 team conduct CERTEX to hone mission-essential tasks, execute specified MEU and Amphibious Ready Group operations, and certify the foundation of a cohesive warfighting team for exercises and operations they may encounter in their upcoming deployment.
