Sailors with the USS San Diego refuel an MH-60S Knighthawk with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 (HSC-23) on the flight deck of the USS San Diego while participating in a vertical replenishment exercise conducted during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of San Diego, May 12, 2014. COMPTUEX provides the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, along with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, the opportunity to conduct command and control of amphibious operations from the sea.
