Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit fast rope out of a CH-53E Super Stallion during visit, board, search and seizure training here Feb. 26. VBSS missions may be utilized to conduct the maritime boarding of contested vessels. During the training, Marines fast roped down from a CH-53E Super Stallion onto a landing craft utility. The 11th MEU performs amphibious training, such as VBSS missions, to maintain skills and readiness in preparation for their upcoming deployment later this summer.
