Sgt. Jacob Hunter, a field wireman with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, salutes Lt. Col. Eddy Hansen, the executive officer of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, after getting meritoriously promoted to sergeant, as part of a promotion ceremony here May 2. To be meritoriously promoted, a Marine must do everything within his ability to stand out among his peers. Hunter understood that concept and was meritoriously promoted to sergeant within three and a half years of service. “All the hard work has payed off at the end of the day,” said Hunter, the 21-year-old, Wilson, Pa., native. “It all comes down to doing your job and being the best at everything you do, while looking out for the Marines you’re responsible for.”
