Company rolls through raid training

8 Jun 2011 | Lance Cpl. Ryan Carpenter 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit

A Marine rifle company mounted in up-armored Humvees conducted a simulated raid here June 8, part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit's pre-deployment training.

In a course hosted by I Marine Expeditionary Force's Special Operations Training Group, Marines and sailors of the unit's ground combat element, Battalion Landing Team 3/1, trained to secure, confuse and destroy their enemies.

The raid force was comprised of Marines from Company K, BLT 3/1, and Marines from the unit's logistics combat element, Combat Logistics Battalion 11.

"We're making sure the basics are second nature," said 1st Sgt. Josue Ayala, Company K first sergeant.

The five-day course is one of many training events the Marines will complete before deploying with the 11th MEU later this year.
