ABOARD THE U.S.S. PELELIU (Dec, 7, 2005) -Cpl. Mambasse Patara provides security while the rest of the Marines and sailors from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted an enhanced nuclear, biological and chemical operation and mass casualty exercise on San Clemente Island. Marines and sailors from the command element, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion 4th Marines and MEU Service Support Group 11 where transported in CH-53s and CH-46s from Marine Medium Helicopter squadron 166 (Rein) to the training site. The Marines and sailors of BLT 1-4, MSSG 11, both from Camp Pendleton, HMM 166, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, along with Amphibious Squadron 3 and Expeditionary Strike Group 3, are conducting training exercises as part of their pre-deployment training aboard the Peleliu, Camp Pendleton and at San Clemente in preparation for their upcoming deployment early next year. This is a photo essay of Marines and sailors from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducting an enhanced nuclear, biological and chemical operation and mass casualty exercise on San Clemente Island, Calif., Dec. 7.  More than 50 participants from the command element, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment and MEU Service Support Group 11 were transported in CH-53 Sea Stallions and CH-46 Sea Knights from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 166 (Reinforced) to the training site. 

The Marines and sailors of BLT 1/4, MSSG-11, both from Camp Pendleton, Calif., HMM-166, Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, San Diego, as part of Expeditionary Strike Group 3 and Amphibious Squadron 3, are conducting training exercises as part of their pre-deployment training aboard the U.S.S. Peleliu, Camp Pendleton, and San Clemente Island, in preparation for their upcoming deployment early next year.
