ABOARD THE U.S.S. PELELIU -- This is a photo essay of Marines and sailors from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducting an enhanced nuclear, biological and chemical operation and mass casualty exercise on San Clemente Island, Calif., Dec. 7. More than 50 participants from the command element, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment and MEU Service Support Group 11 were transported in CH-53 Sea Stallions and CH-46 Sea Knights from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 166 (Reinforced) to the training site.
The Marines and sailors of BLT 1/4, MSSG-11, both from Camp Pendleton, Calif., HMM-166, Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, San Diego, as part of Expeditionary Strike Group 3 and Amphibious Squadron 3, are conducting training exercises as part of their pre-deployment training aboard the U.S.S. Peleliu, Camp Pendleton, and San Clemente Island, in preparation for their upcoming deployment early next year.
