Staff Sgt. Bo Irving adjusts an underwater breathing apparatus while diving in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Sept. 17. Irving and other members of Reconnaissance Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 2/4, practiced insertion methods during final training before deploying Sept. 24 with 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The apparatus, a Draeger LAR-V rebreather, does not produce bubbles and is used for clandestine underwater insertion. Irving is the platoon’s special equipment noncommissioned officer.
