First Lt. Christopher Ferguson (right), from Bakersfield, Calif., and other Marines from Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/4, review their assault plan aboard an air-cushioned landing craft prior to conducting a raid on San Clemente Island Aug. 12. Marines and sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, embarked on amphibious assault ships off the coast of California, are conducting a wide array of military operations during their certification exercise scheduled to end Aug. 21. The raid, conducted by Marines with Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/4, was the first ship-to-shore assault that the MEU conducted during the exercise. Ferguson is the Light Armored Reconnaissance Platoon commander, Weapons Company, BLT 2/4.
