Marines with the Force Reconnaissance Detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, hook a caving ladder onto the USS San Diego as part of an approach, hook, and climb training exercise conducted during Certification Exercise (CERTEX) off the coast of Southern California, June 13, 2014. The 11th MEU and Amphibious Squadron 5 team conduct CERTEX to hone mission-essential tasks, execute specified MEU and Amphibious Ready Group operations, and certify the foundation of a cohesive warfighting team for exercises and operations they may encounter in their upcoming deployment.
