A Marine with the Force Reconnaissance Detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires the Marine Corps Close Quarters Battle Pistol while advancing towards his target on the flight deck of the USS San Diego as part of low-light, live-fire sustainment training conducted during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of southern California, May 18, 2014. COMPTUEX is the second at-sea period during the 11th MEU and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group joint predeployment training program, during which they will refine mission-related operations and blue-green communication.
