Britt, gives Marines and sailors from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) Camp Pendleton, Calif., the royal treatment during a special birthday dinner aboard USS Tarawa for those born in December. Food service specialists aboard USS Tarawa cooked teriyaki steak, lobster tails, crab legs, rice pilaf, grilled asparagus and double baked potatoes with melted cheese. The meal that included cake and ice cream and drinks were served by senior staff noncommissioned officers and officers as a way to show their appreciation for junior Marines and sailors. FOAMMULAH ATOLL, Maldives (Dec. 20, 2007) ? Cpl. Eleazar Zamano, ambulance driver, from Combat Logistics Battalion 11, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Camp Pendleton, Calif., acts as a mock patient for a Maldives National Defence Force medic during a combat lifesavers course here. Members of the MEU medical team trained 108 Maldivian medical personnel in advanced trauma and advance cardiac life support and 15 MNDF medics from Dec. 12-20 here. KAALAPARA, Bangladesh (Dec. 4, 2007) ? Villagers from the fishing village of Kaalapara wait patiently to be treated by members of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) Tarawa Expeditionary Strike Goup 3 medical team during a Humanitarian Assistance Operation here Dec 4. The medical team, aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1) and other elements of the 11th MEU (SOC), are conducting Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief efforts in response to the Government of Bangladesh's request for assistance after Tropical Cyclone Sidr struck their southern coast Nov. 15. The storm killed over 3,000 people and has left several hundred thousand homeless.
